New Year’s Day was meant to be a quiet one, but as soon as I stepped into the garage I knew something wasn’t right. There was the smell of fuel in the air — never a smell you want around a car, especially an older Porsche.
After having a closer look underneath, I spotted a small fuel leak. Once the car was safely jacked up, it became clear that the culprit was the fuel return line. Not ideal, but at least it was something identifiable and not a mystery leak.
Of course, being a public holiday meant there was nothing I could do straight away, so the Porsche stayed parked up until the next day. First thing in the morning I rang Pirtek and headed over to their Springwood branch.
To my surprise, the whole process was incredibly quick. They made up a new fuel hose while I waited — around ten to fifteen minutes later it was done. The cost? Just $150, which felt very reasonable for the peace of mind it would bring.
Back home, I installed the new hose, double-checked everything, and fired the car up. No leaks, no fuel smell, and everything working exactly as it should. Win.
